It is especially the congenial atmosphere that makes him cycle to work with such zest every day. \r\n\r\n<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n\n<div id=\"dividerBlk\" class=\"groot\">\n   \n<\/div>\n\n\n<section class=\"megaPanel-bar overons-bar panel4\">\n\t<div class=\"container\">\n\t\t<div class=\"inner-layer grijsachtergrond\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"row\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"col-12 offset-xl-1 col-xl-4 col-lg-5\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"overons-captionText wittekst\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2>The premises<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Every morning of his working week Ben de Blij cycles from Delft to the Koornstra &#038; Co premises in de Lier. On his electric bike. \u201cI takes me about thirty minutes. I do so in all sorts of weather\u201d, says the order picker. \u201cBut I always enjoy that ride.\u201d Ben\u2019s working day begins around 7.30 a.m. \u201cFirst I get warmed up with a nice cuppa, of course.\u201d He proudly shows his workplace: the business hall of Koornstra &#038; Co, where there is a perpetual coming and going of all kinds of fruit and vegetables all day long. Ben\u2019s colleagues drive past non-stop with pallets, which they have sorted and built up. We walk past a few boxes of \u2018exotics\u2019, as they are called. \u201cYou really get to see everything here. When I just started, I didn\u2019t know what I was seeing. I knew what apples and pears were, but that was about it.\u201d Within three years\u2019 time Ben says he has learned a great deal. \u201cI was taught the ropes by three colleagues. They have taught me so many different things. Yet now and then I come across something when I think: now what on earth is that?\r\n<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"col-12 col-xl-7 col-lg-7\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"overons-figure\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.werkenbijkoornstra.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Koornstra-WB-Ben-2.png\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n<div id=\"dividerBlk\" class=\"groot\">\n   \n<\/div>\n\n\n<section class=\"megaPanel-bar teamwork-bar panel5\">\n\t<div class=\"container\">\n\t\t<div class=\"inner-layer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"row\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"col-12 col-sm-12 col-md-4 offset-md-1\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3>Working together with logistics colleagues<\/h3>\n<p>When one of Ben\u2019s colleagues in the commercial department has received an order, it is passed on to the colleagues downstairs who are involved with logistics. It is in their office that Ben and his fellow-order pickers collect the orders. \u201cWe work together a lot with them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The order pickers are responsible for the composition of a pallet on which the<br \/>\nproducts are stacked firmly on top of each other. \u201cIt is important to position the slightly heavier products in the sturdier packagings at the bottom. The lighter goods end up at the top of the pallet.\u201d The order picker also makes sure that the products are wrapped firmly. \u201cOnce a pallet is ready, it is loaded onto a truck. Tomatoes and peppers are the fast-moving products at Koornstra.\u201d says Ben, while standing in front of a pallet.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"col-md-1 col-sm-0\"> <\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"col-12 col-sm-12 col-md-5 \">\n\t\t\t\t\t<article class=\"review-panel\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAlways having fun<br \/>\ntogether on the road.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span class=\"dataname\">\u2013 Ben de Blij<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/article>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n<div id=\"dividerBlk\" class=\"groot\">\n   \n<\/div>\n\n\n<section class=\"megaPanel-bar smallMain-banner\">\n\t<div class=\"small-container\">\n\t\t<div class=\"row\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"col left-panel\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"banner-caption\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2>Everyone helps each other<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Sometimes we have to make haste in the hall. \u201cBut everyone helps each other. Together we always get things done.\u201d\r\nBen praises the good-fellowship in the company. \u201cTo be honest, I\u2019ve experienced a different work environment elsewhere as well. Here the atmosphere is very congenial. If a problem arises, there is always somebody ready to help out.
