This makes his job hectic and many-sided. As sales manager he is in daily contact with the customers. \u201cThe customers feel more like colleagues because of the frequent contact we have\u201d, says Matthijs.\r\n\r\n<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n\n<div id=\"dividerBlk\" class=\"groot\">\n   \n<\/div>\n\n\n<section class=\"megaPanel-bar overons-bar panel4\">\n\t<div class=\"container\">\n\t\t<div class=\"inner-layer grijsachtergrond\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"row\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"col-12 offset-xl-1 col-xl-4 col-lg-5\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"overons-captionText wittekst\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2>The telephone never stops ringing<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Like many of his colleagues Matthijs has worked at Koornstra &#038; Co in De Lier for quite some time now. He once started in a part-time job in the warehouse, some twenty years ago. As the sales manager he is a beacon to others in the commercial department. His telephone never stops ringing. This day, too, it does not take long before one of his customers manages to contact him. <br><bt>\u201cMatthijs\u201d, he hears when he answers the phone. \u201cNein, morgen neue Anfuhr. Ja? Ok\u00e9, bis Morgen!\u201d The call does not last any longer than ten seconds. \u201cLook, that\u2019s the way I like it. Short and simple. Some customers you occasionally talk to ten to fifteen times a day. Then you don\u2019t start asking them every time how they are, what the weather is like and such small-talk.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"col-12 col-xl-7 col-lg-7\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"overons-figure\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.werkenbijkoornstra.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Koornstra-WB-Matthijs-2.png\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n<div id=\"dividerBlk\" class=\"groot\">\n   \n<\/div>\n\n\n<section class=\"megaPanel-bar teamwork-bar panel5\">\n\t<div class=\"container\">\n\t\t<div class=\"inner-layer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"row\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"col-12 col-sm-12 col-md-4 offset-md-1\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u201cIt is important to establish a good relationship with customers.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span class=\"dataname\">\u2013 Matthijs van Oosterhout<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"col-md-1 col-sm-0\"> <\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"col-12 col-sm-12 col-md-5 \">\n\t\t\t\t\t<article class=\"review-panel\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">Knowing where you are with each other<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"s1\">IIn course of time Matthijs has got to know many of the faces behind the voices he has everyday dealings with. \u201cSome customers I see every year, others I haven\u2019t met yet.\u201d According to Matthijs it is important anyhow that you manage to establish a good relationship with your customers, so that you know where you are with each other.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"s1\">The day begins reasonably early for Matthijs. \u201cRoughly between 6 and 7 a.m. By that time the first orders are often already in our mailbox or in the app. Meanwhile the buyers are updating the purchases of that day. And we also have to deal with the auctions on the day itself. We determine the sale prices of that day and we have people completing and dispatching price lists.<br \/>\nThis calls for all kinds of communication in order to make everything run as smoothly as possible.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">Everything, from a to z<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In the sales department you need to be someone who does not hesitate to advertise products. \u201cYou may have a customer who is calling for peppers, but I may then just have a nice batch of cucumbers ready. Then I try to bring that to the customer\u2019s attention as well and if things go right, to sell it. We literally have everything here from a to z. From apples to zucchini, so to speak, so we have plenty of choice in our product range.\u201d<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/article>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n<div id=\"dividerBlk\" class=\"groot\">\n   \n<\/div>\n\n\n<section class=\"megaPanel-bar smallMain-banner\">\n\t<div class=\"small-container\">\n\t\t<div class=\"row\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"col left-panel\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"banner-caption\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2>The whole world passes by<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Someone who has to fill Matthijs\u2019s boots must be a jack of all trades, as he says himself, and know about all sorts of things. \u201cYou also need to know all the processes in the company well and be able to direct people properly. This implies that you can communicate clearly, but you especially need to be able to listen well.\u201d<br><br>Meanwhile a mail pops up on Matthijs\u2019s screen about avocados from Colombia. \u201cThe whole world passes by about every day. And no two days are the same.
